Besides the capability of long distance data transmission, fiber optic products are inherently resistant to EMI/RFI and transient surges; therefore, they are ideal for data communications near heavy electrical equipment and other electrical or radio interference.
This rugged industrial-grade Serial-to-Fiber-Optic converter operates within a wide temperature range (-40F to 185F/-40C to 85C), and features 600W surge protection and 15kV static protection. It requires no software drivers or flow control, making the unit a rugged, highly reliable, and truly plug-and-play device.
Depending on the fiber cable and the type of converter used, a Single-Mode fiber optic converter can extend the RS232 / RS485 / RS422 distance to up to 24.8 miles (40 km), while a Multi-Mode fiber optic converter can extend the RS232 / RS485 / RS422 distance to up to 1.2 miles (2 km). Standards can be mixed and matched, so RS-232 devices can be connected to RS485 / RS422 devices, or RS485 (2-wire) devices can be connected to RS422 (4-wire) devices without using a converter and isolator.

The unit features auto-negotiation for half or full-duplex and 10 or 100Mbps data rates, it also supports MDI (straight-through) and MDIX (crossover) cables, therefore, no DIP switch, jumper settings or software drivers are required, making the unit a highly reliable and truly plug-and-play device. Depending on the fiber cable and the type of media converter used, a single-mode media converter can extend the 10/100M Ethernet distance to up to 12.4 miles (20 km), while a single-mode media converter can extend the distance to up to 1.2 miles (2 km).

CommFront 232Analyzer is an advanced serial port protocol analyzer software that allows programmers, engineers, and others to control, monitor and analyze serial port (RS232 / RS485 / RS422 / TTL, etc.) activities.
232Analyzer supports data input and monitoring in ASCII, hexadecimal, decimal, octal and binary formats. It also allows you to monitor or change RS-232's Handshaking line states: RTS, DTR, CTS, DSR, DCD, and RI. With the port-powered RS232 to RS485/RS422 or RS232 to TTL converter, it also allows you to monitor or control RS485/RS422/TTL devices.
All data and handshaking signal flows are logged in the communication window, which can be saved as .txt, .doc or .rtf files for further analysis.
